The Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) youth swim team won its tenth straight Junior Olympics title in July.
The Sarasota Y’s Sharks youth swim team won its tenth straight Junior Olympics Championship title Saturday, July 18 by more than 800 points. Placing second and third were Bolles School Sharks (Jacksonville) and Tampa Bay Community Aquatics, respectively.
Never in the history of Florida Swimming’s Junior Olympic Championship has any team come anywhere close to such a title run. There are two Junior Olympics meets each year - February’s event is the short course (25-yard) and the summer season is the long course (50-meter) meet. The Sharks team also earned its fourth consecutive national championship title earlier this year.
