Jeff Niemann threw a two-hit complete game shutout and Carlos Pena had two home runs, one of which was a grand slam that topped off a 5 RBI night as the Rays downed the Toronto Blue Jays, 9-0 at Tropicana Field
The first game of the three game series drew in 12,937 fans to see the best team in baseball improve its record to 38-20. The Rays are two games up over the Yankees and four games up over the Red Sox.
Make plans to get out to the Trop and see MLBs best team during this homestand. Wednesday & Thursday vs the Blue Jays and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Marlins come to town for an interleague battle.
