Manatee West Cal Ripken All-Stars are headed to the Southeasten Regional Championship tournament in Mackenzie, Tennessee.The 11-under team won the South Florida State championship last weekend in Jupiter and earned them a trip to the Regional Championship. The tournament starts  tonight and go through July 27.

Starting February 8th, Youth Golf of America will start its Monday Night Golf League at the Suncoast Golf Center in Sarasota. If you would like more information on the league call Guy Vilt at 941-870-2598 or send an email guyvilt@yahoo.com.

The Sarasota Christian Baseball league is now accepting registratrations for their spring baseball season. All children (boys & girls) are welcome to play in this great recreation league. Ages are 5-8 for MINIS (coach pitch), 8-10 for Minors & 10-12 for Majors. Sign up before January 11th for a discounted registration fee.

The Sarasota Family YMCA Berlin Branch will hold a three-day Holiday Youth Basketball Camp on December 21-23 and on December 28-30 for all kids ages 5-12. Local golfers competing in the Champions Jr. Golf Tour / Youth Golf of America tournament on November 18th got a chance to meet one of golfs greatest players of all time, Chi Chi Rodriguez. The group of young golfers spent about an hour with Chi Chi before they started their tournament at The Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club in Clearwater, FL.

Eight year old Lamar Williams sizes up his putt during the Drive, Pitch & Putt Contest held at IMG Golf & Country Club. Lamar is a third grader at Kinnan Elementry School in Bradenton, Florida.

Young golfers from all over the United States came to Bradenton to compete in this contest with the top three in each age group (6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U) advancing to the International Drive, Pitch & Putt Competition in Orlando, Florida on August 7, 2010.

Manatee County I9 Sports is currently registering for the winter season now through November 21, 2009. The season begins on January 16, 2010 and runs through March 20, 2010. Programs offered during the winter season are Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball and Cheerleading. Events are played in Lakewood Ranch at Dan Nolan Middle School, Parrish at the Parrish United Methodist Church and in West Bradenton at the First Church of the Nazarene.

Early registration discounts are available through October 31, 2009 and multi child discounts and multi season sport discounts are available.
