If you arrived at the annual PAL BOWL at Lakewood Ranch last night, you missed one of the best plays of the evening.  Manatee High’s Ace Sanders took the opening kickoff 99 yards untouched for a score as Manatee County wins 26-12 against Sarsota County.

With the win, Manatee snapped its three-game losing streak to Sarasota who leads the all-time series 10-8.

The annual charity game was originally scheduled for Dec. 18 at Riverview High, but the game was cancelled due to serious weather conditions. The game was then moved to Lakewood Ranch because of a scheduling conflict. With the game date changed, this gave Manatee High School players a chance to participate in the classic. The Hurricanes were in Orlando on December 18 at the Citrus Bowl to play in the Class 5A High School Football finals.
Sanders was named the team MVP and finished with four catches for 38 yards. A.J Strong was named Sarasotas MVP of the game. He rushed for 131 yards on 20 carries.
