The Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) youth swim team won its tenth straight Junior Olympics title in July.

The Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) youth swim team won its tenth straight Junior Olympics title in July.

The Sarasota Y’s Sharks youth swim team won its tenth straight Junior Olympics Championship title Saturday, July 18 by more than 800 points. Placing second and third were Bolles School Sharks (Jacksonville) and Tampa Bay Community Aquatics, respectively.

Never in the history of Florida Swimming’s Junior Olympic Championship has any team come anywhere close to such a title run. There are two Junior Olympics meets each year - February’s event is the short course (25-yard) and the summer season is the long course (50-meter) meet. The Sharks team also earned its fourth consecutive national championship title earlier this year.

Manatee West Cal Ripken All-Stars are headed to the Southeasten Regional Championship tournament in Mackenzie, Tennessee.The 11-under team won the South Florida State championship last weekend in Jupiter and earned them a trip to the Regional Championship. The tournament starts  tonight and go through July 27.

The Manatee West Cal Ripken Baseball 11-and-under team has won the Florida State Title. The team is headed to the Southeastern Regional Championshipin in McKenzie, Tenn which runs July 21-27
