2009 Old Spice Classic Tournament at Disney

We’ve been hanging out at Disney’s Wide World of Sports today and saw some great NCAA basketball games. Creighton, Michigan, Marquette, Xavier, Alabama, Baylor, Florida State and Iona all played good hard games in the 4th annual Old Spice Classic. Local Youth Golfers Meet Chi Chi Rodriguez

Local golfers competing in the Champions Jr. Golf Tour / Youth Golf of America tournament on November 18th got a chance to meet one of golfs greatest players of all time, Chi Chi Rodriguez. The group of young golfers spent about an hour with Chi Chi before they started their tournament at The Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club in Clearwater, FL.

Divas & Dudes 5K Run support Sarasota Youth Opera.

Come out  and go the distance for Sarasota Youth Opera.

8:00 am 5k Race

8:30 am 1 Mile Fun Walk

Divas & Dudes 5K is a new racing event dedicated to support Sarasota Youth Opera.

Youth Opera is an exciting way for hundreds of young people ages 8 to 18 to experience vocal training, performance opportunities and educational activities through the medium of opera.

The Race

Divas & Dudes 5K will take place in beautiful Payne Park in Sarasota on Adams Lane near US 301. The race route consists of two loops around the perimeter of the park on grass and a final loop around the inner park fine gravel track.

Awards will be given to the top three female and male runners in each category and special prizes to one overall top female and male.

Event Highlights
Diva & Dudes 5K welcomes non-runners to participate in a 1 mile walk and invites children to enjoy post-run/walk arts and crafts, as well as face-painting, for a full morning of family fun!

All runners will receive a goodie bag, t-shirt, and post run snacks. Additional shirts will be available for purchase.

Fees
$20 race entry fee through November 13, 2009
$25 race entry fee on day of race, November 14, 2009
$10 donation for walkers

Manatee High JV Football Team Finishes With a Perfect Record

With an 8-0 season, the Manatee High JV football team is unbeaten again. This is the second time in the last four seasons that the JV Hurricanes have had a perfect record.

Led by freshman quarterback Cord Sandberg, the Hurricanes outscored there opponents by a 48-6 average and with help from the defense who only allowed three teams to score touchdowns against them all season.

CONGRATULATIONS HURRICAINES !!!!
